The Hawaiian Monk Seals of Kauai

These creatures are one of the most endangered Marine Mammals on Earth. They have recently migrated to Kauai from the upper island chain around Midway and Marshall Islands. They are endemic to these islands and are not found anywhere else on earth. There are only 1,000 of these prescious mammals left with the numbers depleating over 5% a year.  The largest threat to their survival are us  humans and our practices of disreguard with the Ocean.

Hawaiian Monk Seals feed on seaweed, lobsters, octopus and small fish on coral reefs.  They must haul out on beaches to digest and assimulate for health and strength to survive the vast ocean surrounding our islands of Hawaii.
