SEAFLOWER

New-sprung nectar in full bloom at edge
of sumptuous sea; lavender
flower, reaches to noon sun,
waves roll closer, immerse
pluck, deliver her
into unknown
ocean of
azure
dream.

Geckos bark and dash
probe walls and windows ~
cockroaches beware.

hot humid night

When and If

If and when I grow
olden as an oak tree
Will wind shake me
tremble through leaves
then strip me of bird shelters
leave me to stand denude
to a Sapphire sky?

Might natural causes
bring me to an end
to fall and decompose
myself into the earth
to begin again and again
if and when.

Red Cardinal

FISHING WOMAN

^
She is
perched on
wire crated seat
at platforms edge
safety rope tethered
snugly about her waist
hand woven net at her side,
lies in wait. Eyes peer into dark
torrent, waters rage, fall below.
Sensing line in hand, she waits
knowing the difference
between the rushing
tumbling
moving
force of water
and the Sacred bite
of Salmon.

Tropic tradewinds
do not blow strong enough -
to lift sleepy eyes

clickety-clack -
wind whipped palms
shake out birds
