PROJECTS & PASSIONS
Who is this Wahine?
I am a woman who followed her dreams. My mother was American Native Wintun tribe and my father was Spanish. My Paternal Great-Grandfather left Spain and traveled to his new home on Kaua'i around the turn of the century.
Since I was 8 yrs old I wanted to paint, dance hula and live on Kaua'i. The desire stayed with me my entire life. IT remained. I became a painter at 18. After a "Near-LIFE" experience I began fulfillment on my 5oth year for the other two dreams. I moved to Kaua'i and I started to study hula with Kumu Hula Leilani Bond.
I have lived here since Winter 2000 and continue to paint, photograph, write poetry and dance my lifes desires and dreams in the heart of the Pacific Ocean~my Garden Island, Kaua'i.
Paintings, Photography and Poetry from Heart
Most of my inspiration comes from the dreamtime. My paintings, photographs and poetry capture natural beauty and conveys strength of spirit in a very unique way.
Paintings have been purchased by people all over the United States and Europe and published Internationally in We'Moon Calander 2000-2008. My poetry you will find in Women on a Wire, Vol 1 and Vol 2 published 1996 and 2001 Ladybug Books, various chapbooks and many sites on the internet.
LOST IN A PAINTING
my frustration gets painted over -
globs of color smeared
pushed into form
layer upon layer
medium of escape awakes -
sizzling red that wants to bend ones will
seething orange steals the edge
screaming yellow shouts out darkness
primordial purple mountain strength
dominates the horizon --
sensual oils sanction release
with one caressing stroke
I am in blue-ness of water
transparent cerulean ripples
calming floating rage away
soothes unrest -
on muddied shore
blades of spring green grass
burst forth waving
the peaceful sunrise
from my canvas of life.
